Here's a short description of most of the events we host and/or participate in.

In addition to the events below, we also have a monthly board meeting (well, almost every month).
And - we have representatives present all almost every congressional Academy Information Night.

Choose the RSVP link above for the upcoming schedule and to register for those you wish to attend.

  • Pre-Plebe Parent's Weekend Event
    Month: February
Attending: Plebe Parents, Board Members & Yuck Parents
Description: What happens at West Point, tips on what you "may not want to miss", what to expect with walking privileges & meet others that will be in attendance from our area.
  • Founder's Day Banquet
    Month: March
Attending: Hosted by the West Point Society (WP alumni group) but attended by the parent club as well. All incoming candidates and their families are invited.
Description: Founders Day is the annual celebration of the founding of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. During the American Revolution, Fortress West Point was considered by George Washington as the key to the continent. The academy's legacy began on March 16, 1802. Typically one or two cadets have an extra day home for an extended weekend, if they will attend and speak. New families are usually seated among alumni as well as existing families. There is usually a guest speaker (in 2017, the Superintendent was present) and a dinner, the parent reception is typically before dinner begins.
  • Firstie Tea
    Month: March or April
Attending: Firstie parents & alumni parents
Description: Firstie parents and alumni parents come together to discuss what to expect for graduation (besides planning ahead), a review of scheduled events, etc. This may seem fairly simple, but remember the whole US converges on West Point like at R-Day and there are several events and award ceremonies you may want to attend. Typically hosted at a home or venue  depending on the host preference.
  • Spring Boodle Bash & Soldier Boodle
    Month: May
    Attending: All club members
Description: A tradition among the family, parents and supporters of West Point Cadets wherein boxes of "supplies" are shipped to Cadets to help sustain them during TEE's (Term Ending Exams) also known as finals week. Families and friends bring the Boodle supplies together and share the event of packing boxes for their sons and daughters and other Cadets from our district and others who have been identified as "would benefit from" a Boodle box. At this time, the club also packs boxes for deployed soldiers. When a graduate officer is deployed, we will send Boodle boxes to be distributed among the officer's deployed company.
  • Hail & Farewell Luncheon
Month: June (First or Second Sunday)
    Attending: All members are invited
Description: The largest club event of the year! HAIL to the incoming class and FAREWELL to the graduating class. This is a catered luncheon, typically at a country club venue. Come listen to the graduates tell their stories and wish the new class well as they prepare to report.
  • Feed the Beast
    Month: June
Attending: Cadet Candidates, their families, board members and a few current Cadets as available.
Description: Typically a class event for the new incoming class and its incoming cadets. Come and get to know your future classmates and their families over some good food and community before you report. It's always a good thing to see a familiar face on campus, even if its from a distance!
  • Ice Cream Social
    Month: July
Attending: New Cadet Parents, board members
Description: New Cadet parents get together (either at someone's house, subdivision clubhouse, or other venue) on the same day that their New Cadets have their ice cream social at West Point. It has always been exciting to hear about the phone calls home and what their tone does for our own spirits!
  • A-Day Debrief
    Month: August
Attending: New Cadet Parents, board members, alumni
Description: A gathering after A-day for the new class and alumni folks. What their experiences were on A-Day (for those who were able to attend), how their cadet is fairing, what we can do to support each other. Some years it has been held at Newport Beach, while in 2017 it was at Huntington State Beach.
  • Beach Party
    Month: October
    Attending: All club members
Description: Another all club event when we usually see the most alumni families attend all year besides Boodle Bashes. Typically potluck, has been held at an area park or at the beach. Where have the grads been posted, what are they up to, do they like what they do?
  • Fall Boodle Bash & Soldier Boodle
    Month: November
  • Army Navy Game Events
    Month: December
    Attending: Open to all
OPTION 1 | The club purchases a block of game tickets and makes them available to all members at cost, this process begins in the Summer to get your order in early! They are slightly more expensive due to the larger required donation, which is split equally among the number of tickets we get BUT the seats are also much better. Depending on the stadium, the seats in Baltimore are covered and have enclosed inside level with concessions and seating where you can warm up if needed. Also a good place to meet up with cadet. If it IS at Baltimore and you want to ensure your cadet can sit with you, buy them a ticket.
OPTION 2 | If you want to watch the game locally among other Army and Navy fans, either the parent clubs get together to view the game or the West Point Society has a viewing party to attend. Just need to RSVP so there is plenty of open seating. Food and drink typically ordered on your own. Watch for updates in late November.
  • All Academies Ball
    Month: December (after Christmas)
Attending: Open to all with tickets
Description: A formal dinner event (with a guest speaker) held every year while cadets are on Christmas leave and usually held day AFTER Christmas. After dinner, the dance floor opens up with a dj. Cadets bring home their full dress mess (and many, but not all, bring a date), suit or black ties for gentlemen, formal to cocktail dresses for ladies. There is a photographer to take family pictures with everyone dressed up, there are silent auction items (and the committee is always looking for donations), as well as a special raffle for cadets only- cost for current cadet to attend is free. While the Navy has been the committee chair for this event the last few years, all five service academies pitch in to help organize. Please reach out to club representatives if you are interested in serving on this committee.
